The Santa Isabel (Japanese: サンタイサベル) was the flagship of the Free Planets Star Fleet in the initial days of the Alliance–Imperial War. It notably served during the Battle of Dagon in 640 UC (331 IC / 3440 CE), serving as Lin Pao's command ship. The battle ended in a complete Alliance victory, with the Santa Isabel coming out of it intact. Its subsequent service following the battle is unknown, but its design was eventually replaced by a newer, more efficient one, and it was likely decommissioned, and its ship type phased out.

The Santa Isabel was visually identical to the contemporary standard Alliance battleship.

The main armament consisted of 8 beam cannons grouped into 2 groups of 4. Each group had its own dedicated power generator to ensure some firepower was retained in case of damage to the other.

The main weapons were not entirely of modular construction though complete modularity was the goal. However later generations of ships, culminating in the Ajax class flagships would have modular construction of both their weapon and engine sections, allowing for interchangeability. They would be descendants of the design philosophy first seen in this early Alliance design.

Multiple pure water tanks for use as propellant were positioned dorsally, ventrally, and on both sides of the hull in order to avoid shifting the ship's centre of mass. Compared to later generations of ships, propellant use was higher due to more inefficient engines.

Along the side of the hull was a shutter-like access panel for the ship's main reactor. In that time period, the reactors had a short operational lifespan and required frequent maintenance or replacement. The large access panel was designed to increase readiness rates of the ships, but the needs of having access limited the amount of armour that could be placed over the panel. After several reports of beam cannon hits penetrating through to the reactor and causing catastrophic damage, such a feature was discarded in the subsequent generation of Alliance ships.

On the ship's ventral hull was a small shuttle hangar with space for 12 shuttles. These shuttles were used for communication and ferrying of personnel only and were unarmed. (Fleet File Collection Vol.3)
