Also nice detail on the Visarr as well as the standard Alliance battleship, cruiser, and destroyer. It is a pity they are not releasing these on a wider basis. One small thing though, I think the shade of green used is a bit deeper than the shade of green seen most often in the series. Iracundus 10:14, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

Possibly, and those holes do look similar to those on Barbarossa, but a bit hesitant to conclude anything on that alone. Could also be missile launchers, heat exhaust, or miscellaneous mechanical "greeble". Iracundus 11:09, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

Gaiden name captions

Can you confirm if the variant of Hassliche Entlein spelling I used in the valkyrie launch screencap for the Imperial cruiser is correct? I pulled it from the Japanese side-view .gif website. Vympel 05:20, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, and it looks like the assault ship sketches are there too. Enough stuff to work on for the weekend, though the data on these ships is rather lacking. It is a pity both the LD art binder and DVD sketches have almost all the writing too small for legibility as I think that would be very helpful in revealing some of what the designers were thinking. Possible. The missile cruiser after all is really just an extreme variant of the other. It is interesting that we don't ever see it in the main series. The obvious real life reason of course is that I think it was designed afterwards, but possibly the in-universe reason could be that the assault on Iserlohn concentrated and lost most of the production of this variant. Its extreme ammunition requirements and weak defensive abilities may have led to cost-benefit analysis deciding in favour of standard cruisers over this variant. Certainly that is the impression the FFC and Databook seem to give about the various Alliance squadron flagships. Now the question is what in-universe reason would explain the lack of the Imperial version in the main series. Iracundus 12:45, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Side note: In the upper left of the 2nd image, the caption gives the katakana name of the Imperial cruiser that Julian destroyed on his first outing as a Spartanian pilot. But translating those to a German name is hard since I am not familiar with German. I think it is Lenbach Iracundus 13:01, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Chinese names

Hey! Irrespective of whether we put the names at the top like we were discussing before, i do think it's a good idea to compile all of the Chinese names for every properly named subject in the series. Since you're kind of developing into our 'Chinese-language person', would you be willing to help us out in that respect?

What i was thinking specifically is like a text file or spreadsheet containing a mapping of the English names of characters, places, ships, and so on to their Chinese-language equivalents. If i had a list like that i think i might be able to have our bot automatically add them all to their respective articles under the Name variations sections. (And even if not, it'd still be extremely valuable.)

It is possible though I admit I don't really see the point outside of the Chinese descended characters, who would be expected to have Chinese names already (within the universe). It would only be of value with respect to Chinese readers trying to find the Japanese or English version from the Chinese. (which is the hardest part of doing the Dagon story translation, trying to find out what Germanic names those Chinese translations are referring to) Iracundus 03:59, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

Iracundus, sorry for tainting a page but I cannot find a way to contact you. Where did this "transition" information come from regarding the New Empire's shift to a constitutional monarchy? I should also mention that you edit of my additions was flawless and you made me sound a great deal more knowledgeable than I am. Thank you.
