Shuttle

A shuttle is a type of small short-range craft used to rapidly transport personnel and supplies by both the Galactic Empire and the Free Planets Alliance. Other than transport they are mainly used for fleet communication, especially by the Empire, when electronic systems are jammed during battle.

Alliance shuttles often served the purpose of transporting naval personnel and others from the surface of planets to larger warships awaiting in planetary orbit, as in the Free Planets Star Fleet the larger vessels did not land on the surface of planets.
