Notes

This template is used primarily for the insertion of italicised possessive apostrophes which follow a non-italicised word. The most common use case is related to the names of vessels, which, because they are italicised according to the traditional style, are non-italicised when they are set in the middle of italicised text.

If this template is not used, the addition of the extra apostrophe may break italicisation and/or bolding, due to the apostrophe's use in wiki mark-up for formatting.

The {{'}} template is identical to this one, except that it include a small (1px) left margin. This makes it appropriate for the opposite use case — writing non-italic apostrophes after an italicised word.
