3D chess

3D chess was a game popular in the Free Planets Alliance during the 8th century UC. A common variation of the game was played on three vertically stacked holographic 12x12 chessboards. Alliance war hero and genius strategist Yang Wen-li was known to have been particularly unskilled at 3D chess, losing constantly against Fyodor Patrichev while the two were stationed together on the planet Econia in 788 UC (479 IC / 3588 CE).
