Service history

The Pergamonn led the 6th Fleet against the Lohengramm Fleet at the Battle of Astarte in 796 UC (487 IC / 3596 CE). As with the 4th Fleet, the 6th Fleet was caught by surprise by the Lohengramm fleet's aggressive attack. Shortly into the engagement, its surveillance system was damaged, and Vice Admiral Moore ordered the bridge to be re-raised from under its armor. With their defeat a foregone conclusion, Moore refused Reinhard von Lohengramm's surrender demand, and elected to continue the fight. The Pergamonn was destroyed shortly thereafter by armor-piercing ammunition. (DNT: 'In the Eternal Night')

Design

The Pergamonn, like most Alliance flagships, was a modified version of the Alliance's standard battleship design. As with the majority of Alliance flagships, key distinguishing features were the four antennae protruding from the dorsal, ventral, port and starboard side of the rear hull. It carried substantially heavier forward armament than a standard battleship, and was further distinguishable by its curved bow and additional armament emplacements protruding from either side of the dorsal hull, ahead of the bridge. The Pergamonn was visually identical to the 12th Fleet flagship, the Cernunnos. Unlike most Alliance flagships, its name and pennant number were not evident anywhere on the hull. It's name and penannt number was however displayed in the Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These Official Artworks Complete Edition.
