Size and commanders

Sorry, but where exactly did the fleet sizes (and listings of which Alliance fleets) and commanders come from? If it's Golden Wings, where in it is the information as it seems to say 50,000 ships for the Alliance rather than the more specific size given. Iracundus 14:00, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

I too am curious about this. I had always thought that it was a relatively even engagement, with Sithole only deploying his own fleet, but that was just my assumption. I was also under the impression that information from Golden Wings was not to be taken as fact, or is that not the policy? Strayor 14:20, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
The events of Golden Wings are canon as evidenced by a flashback reference in Dreams of the Morning, Songs of the Night Chapter II. A scene from Golden Wings is remembered by Reinhard but in the style of the main OVA series. Sithole would have deployed multiple Alliance fleets if the total were 50,000 given that each Alliance numbered fleet was about 13,000. It would have dwarfed the Iserlohn garrison fleet. I never connected that until now. I guess my preconceived bias against Golden Wings held me from actually taking its story line as canon. So Sithole did have a very large force, and I'm assuming the character I can only remember as "that weird creepy guy" that was observing Reinhard and trying to prove his incompetence and alleged mutinous activities was also a "real character" that is included in the canon? The flashback shows that character, though he is more reasonable in appearance. Iracundus 21:10, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
I based that information from the Golden Wings manga (seems to be the original source of the film adaptation), that is why I needed confirmation from more sources. If that is not applicable, please remove them. Glacierfairy 21:14, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
I am impressed that you were able to remember those brief five seconds in that all encompassing flashback. Other than the actual actions, there's no way to even tell who that was. But now I have it with my own eyes and must accept it. Even if it is only the quickest of scenes, it qualified everything in Golden Wings as canon. I guess the information and overarching storyline are still up to par if I really think about it. I shouldn't be so quick to judge. Thanks for the clarification. Strayor 05:10, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
