Düren 8 was a supply vessel at the Battle of Kyffhauser. It had the misfortune of being in the path of the Ostmark as Marquis von Littenheim made a disorganized retreat towards Garmisch Fortress.

Lieutenant Konrad Rinser was stationed aboard the ship. After surviving the initial attack, he treated the wounds of Konrad von Moder and transmitted a surrender and a request for asylum.
