The Battle of Alviss Starzone (Japanese: アウヴィース星域会戦) was a battle of the Alliance–Imperial War which took place in the Alviss Starzone in 796 UC (487 IC / 3596 CE). The battle occurred within the scope of a larger campaign which included the Battle of Jafnhár, the Battle of Bilrost, the Battle of Wansteidt, the Battle of Lügen, and the Battle of Dverger. (LOGH: 'The Battle of Amritsar Starzone')

History

The battle occurred as part of the Imperial counterattack against the invading Alliance fleets. With the Alliance supply line severed, the Alliance forces were short of supplies. Attempts to forage triggered revolts in the local population, further sapping the strength of the Alliance forces. Vice Admiral Al-Salem of the 9th Fleet, stationed above the Alviss Starzone, was attacked unexpectedly by the Mittermeyer Fleet, quickly overtaken by the speed of the later. The battle was swift, with the Alliance forces unable to return fire due the positioning of their battleships. The Flagship of the 9th Fleet, battleship Palamedes was damaged in the opening moments of the battle, causing a cable to fly loose on the ship's bridge, which struck and severely wounded Vice Admiral al-Salem, who readily transfered command of the Fleet to then Rear Admiral Lionel Mouton. The extension of the damage was more than 50% casualties for the Alliance Fleet.
