Design

The standard Imperial destroyer design mounted its weapons in the forward hull, with the rear hull being dedicated to the two engines.

Its cannon armament comprised at least 52 beam cannons in the ship's prow, divided into four cells of 13 cannons each. In addition, the ship mounted multiple missile launchers equipped with missiles of various types, including 2 box launchers in the prow (located in between the cannon mountings) with 6 missile tubes each, 2 missile tubes mounted on the ventral section of the forward hull facing forward, 4 launchers on the port and starboard side of the rear of the forward hull that either fired a larger missile or 2 smaller submunitions each, and 4 multiple missile launchers each on the port and starboard sides of the forward hull. Two of the multiple missile launchers on each side of the hull also fired either one missile or 3 smaller submunitions.(LOGH: 'The Battle of Vermilion (Part One)', 'Die by the Sword')

In addition, the Imperial destroyer embarked a pair of Walküre fighters in the ventral side. (LOGH: 'Admiral Yang's Ark Fleet')

Role and Capabilities

Imperial destroyers were utilized in fleet engagements and as patrol ships. A fleet of 2,000 ships under a Rear admiral (i.e. only a single unit of a much larger fleet) could have been expected to include 1,000 destroyers. Destroyers could have been grouped in squadrons for the purpose of patrolling or deep strike missions on enemy formations and territories. (LOGH: 'First Battle', 'Admiral Yang's Ark Fleet', 'Seeking a Free Universe'; MUT: 'Chapter I');
