Schaffhausen (Japanese: シャフハウゼン) was an Imperial viscount based in Odin. A timid man by nature, his only interests are studying medicinal herbs and reading travelogues. In January 792 UC (483 IC / 3592 CE), He became embroiled in a mining rights dispute with Count Herxheimer, who challenged him to a duel to settle the dispute. As Herxheimer used his connections to ensure that no professional duellist will duel on Schaffhausen's behalf, the viscount was at his wits' end until Reinhard von Lohengramm (then Müsel) volunteered to duel on his behalf via his wife Dorothea. In the end, although Reinhard did not defeat his opponent in the duel, he bought enough time before the Imperial Guard suspended the duel by order of Kaiser Friedrich IV, who then proceeded to convey the Kaiser's decision of splitting the mining rights equally between the Schaffhausen and Herxheimer families.
