In the FFC 8 entry, it says the large spherical thing on the back of the Tristan uses lasers to get rid of waste heat, and that a similar system exists for the Beowulf but uses two smaller systems instead of one big system. It seems to be describing a "refrigeration laser" system like that described in David Brin's "Sundiver" novel. Is such a thing possible or a violation of thermodynamics?
