Service History
Flagship of the Wahlen Fleet, the Salamander's first campaign was the counterattack against the Free Planets Alliance's invasion of Imperial space in 796 UC (487 IC / 3596 CE). In 797 UC (488 IC / 3597 CE) she fought as part of the fleet of High Admiral Siegfried Kircheis during the Lippstadt Rebellion - the Salamander, Barbarossa and Skirnir were teamed together in both campaigns. (LOGH: 'The Battle of Amritsar Starzone', LOGH: 'Courage and Loyalty')
The Salamander's most historic action was probably the Imperial assault on Earth against the Earth Cult. (LOGH: 'Holy Land')
She suffered heavy damage in the Second Battle of Rantemario, and would narrowly avoid being destroyed by the Thor Hammer at Iserlohn Fortress in 801 UC (3 NIC / 492 IC / 3601 CE). (LOGH: 'Live by the Sword...'. LOGH: 'A Challenge to Arms')
Design
The Salamander resembles the Skirnir and Forseti in general construction. The ship's most distinctive feature is a pair of claws on her ventral hull, used to secure the ship to terrain during landing operations. These claws were used in the Wahlen Fleet's assault against Earth, with the Salamander deploying hovercraft mounted armoured troops into the Earth Cult's main base within Mount Everest. (LOGH: 'Holy Land')
