Political career

.... Rubinsky became the Landesherr of the Dominion of Fezzan after his predecessor, Walenkov, was assassinated by the Terraist Church for wanting to act independently of them. (Encyclopaedia Die Legende der Sternhelden)

In the aftermath of the civil wars in both the Empire and the Alliance, the Alliance had been substantially weakened relative to the Empire. Rubinsky advocated a departure from the existing Terraist Church plan of prolonging the war between the two nations, which would have required Rubinsky and Fezzan to aid the Alliance to restore the previous balance of power. Instead, he advised further aiding the Empire to conquer the Alliance, and then gaining control of the Empire from behind the scenes.

Though the Terraist Church agreed to adopt his suggestion, Rubinsky secretly planned to take control himself and despised the Terraist Church's goal of a Terra led theocracy.

Life as a fugitive

After the annexation of Fezzan, Rubinsky spent years in hiding, using his hidden connection and resources to launch attacks upon the Empire. However, he was suffering from a malignant brain tumor and by tracing medicines for this Paul von Oberstein was able to locate and arrest him on Heinessen. At this time Rubinsky was believed to have less than a year to live, however he refused food and eventally disconnected his own life support. It was only then discovered that he had planted bombs across Heinessenopolis and that the termination of his brain waves activated a transmitter hidden in his body, triggering them. Thirty percent of the city was destroyed by the resultant fires, killing over five thousand people and injuring over half a million.

Relationships

Rubinsky had an illegitimate son, Rupert Kesselring who was killed attempting to overthrow him. He was also in a longstanding relationship with Dominique Saint-Pierré.
