Synopsis

The pasts of Wolfgang Mittermeyer and Oskar von Reuenthal are revealed, including their first meeting together. In the present, Anton Hilmer von Schaft, Inspector General of the Science and Technology Division, proposed to turn Geiersburg Fortress into a mobile fortress by affixing it with warp engines so that it can be moved to Iserlohn Corridor and neutralise Iserlohn Fortress. The proposal is approved by Reinhard von Lohengramm, who then appoints Karl Gustav Kempff to lead the operation against Iserlohn Fortress, with Neidhart Müller as second-in-command. In Fezzan, Adrian Rubinsky decides to support the proposal and asks Rupert Kesserling to find a way to move Yang Wen-li away from Iserlohn Fortress.

Appendices

Memorable quotes

"I am afraid one hundred battles cannot be one hundred victories. You should make up for one defeat with one victory. It is unnecessary to apologise for each one."

Reinhard von Lohengramm, to Karl Gustav Kempff

"Although our Chief of Staff is hated by people, he is loved by a dog? As fellow dogs, they probably hit it off!"

Fritz Joseph Bittenfeld, on Paul von Oberstein and his pet dalmatian

"If the Alliance is not destroyed, then this dispatch is both profitless and useless. Moving troops at a whim is not healthy for the nation."

Wolfgang Mittermeyer, to Oskar von Reuenthal, voicing his concerns over the plan to use a mobile Geiersburg Fortress to attack Iserlohn Fortress
