Hierarchy changes

Hey there, i was thinking about this and i realised that having people in both 'Imperial citizens' and 'Nobility' is redundant — there is no FPA nobility so why have them in both?

I would like to do one of the following:

Option 1:

Imperial citizens
 |
 |-- Imperial nobility
      |
      |-- Imperial monarchs

Option 2:

Imperial citizens
 |
 |-- Imperial nobility
 |
 |-- Imperial monarchs

And then anybody who fit into monarchy or nobility would ONLY go in those categories, not into Imperial citizens, because they are already part of that cat by extension.

(BTW, i realise 'Imperial nobility' is sort of redundant since there's no other relevant nobility in LOGH, but (a) there are no other relevant corridors in LOGH and we still qualify our article with 'Navigation corridors', so there is precedent; and (b) when somebody looks at the category list at the bottom of a person's article, it's helpful to make it clear to them that this person is an Imperial person specifically.)

What do you think?  ♥ kine @ 22:05, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

To begin with, I think "Royalty" would be a better term than Monarchs, so we can add all those Goldenbaums who weren't monarchs to the list. I wouldn't be so quick to remove "Imperial Citizen" tags from anyone... right now, we can click on any of the "citizen" categories and get a list of ALL the characters who are part of said faction. If we remove that tag/replace it, we're dividing Imperial characters up into three categories.
I would also point out that being a noble does not necessarily make someone an Imperial citizen. It's similar, but not the same. Theoretically, a noble exile could flee to the Alliance, have a child, and then that child could return to the Empire and have a legitimate claim to that noble title. In theory, at least. Nobility is a social status, citizenship is a legal status. Canary 04:48, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
I would be OK with 'Imperial royalty' i suppose.
As far as removing citizens, i don't see any particular problem with that. At some point the list is going to be so gigantic anyway that it will not be of much use to anyone unless they can get smaller chunks of it. (A list of 300 characters all smashed into one category is going to be more difficult to navigate overall than three lists of 100 characters, i'd reckon.) And i know this is probably a tired refrain, but it's how other wikis do it :x
As far as the last part, i don't know, i guess maybe that's true, but if it is independent of citizenship then i don't think it should be part of a category that presupposes citizenship. If we are going to take a theoretical tactic with nobility, i can get behind that, but then i think we'd have to put it into the top-level 'People' category like we do with 'Soldiers'  ♥ kine @ 05:34, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
