Synopsis

Karl Gustav Kempff manages to lead the Imperial fleet to break through the Alliance encirclement and retreats to Geiersburg Fortress, whereupon he takes personal command over the mobile fortress with the intention of smashing it against Iserlohn Fortress. Anticipating this situation, Yang Wen-li orders the Alliance fleet to concentrate all firepower against one of Geiersburg's exposed thrusters, destroying it and causing the fortress to veer out of control and expose itself to a fatal shot from Iserlohn's main gun, the Thor Hammer. Geiersburg then begin to disintegrate, killing Kempff in the process and severely injuring Neidhart Müller, who is leading the surviving Imperial forces to retreat. Rear admirals Nguyen Van Huu and Sandle Alarcon decide to take the squadrons under their command and pursue the retreating Imperial fleet against Yang's orders. However, they encounter the Imperial reinforcement fleet led by Wolfgang Mittermeyer and Oskar von Reuenthal instead and are annihilated after an intense and one-sided skirmish. The reinforcement fleet then falls back before the rest of the Alliance fleet can engage with it.
