Katharina von Goldenbaum (Japanese: カタリナ・フォン・ゴールデンバウム) was the eldest daughter of Rudolf von Goldenbaum, first emperor of the Galactic Empire, and his wife Elizabeth. She was also the mother of the Empire's second emperor, Sigismund I.
History
Katharina von Goldenbaum was arranged to marry Joachim von Neue Stauffen, a highly competent military officer, by her father, the emperor. Despite being the emperor's eldest child, Katharina was excluded from the line of succession based on gender, so when Rudolf died it was her son, Sigismund, who inherited her father's title when she was only 25 years old. As emperor, Sigismund ruled closely with Katharina's husband, who served as the Imperial Prime Minister. (Legend of Galactic Heroes Volume 1: Dawn)
