14th Fleet

The 14th Fleet (Japanese: 第14艦隊) was a unit of the Free Planets Star Fleet that was hurriedly formed in response to the Galactic Empire's invasion of the Free Planets Alliance in 799 UC (1 NIC / 490 IC / 3599 CE). Vice Admiral Lionel Morton was its commander and led it from the battleship Achilleus. The ships of the 14th Fleet came from system security squadrons, old ships about to be decommissioned, and newly constructed ships on space trials. (LOGH: 'The Cold Spell Arrives')
It took part in the Battle of Rantemario in February 799, where it took considerable casualties, and also went on to fight against Duke Reinhard von Lohengramm's forces a second time at the Battle of Vermilion in April and May of that year. During that battle the 14th Fleet again sustained more losses, including its commander, Lionel Morton, who was killed aboard his flagship.
