History
First colonized in 527 UC (218 IC / 3327 CE) by Nguyen Kim Hua and his fellow exiles after fleeing the Galactic Empire in the Long March of 10,000 Light Years, the planet was named after the original Exodus Fleet leader, Arle Heinessen. Over the next one hundred years the population prospered and revived the Golden Age of Humanity of the Galactic Federation. By the end of the Alliance–Imperial War, it boasted a population of over one billion.
The Alliance–Imperial War
In 640 UC (331 IC / 3440 CE) the Galactic Empire made first contact with the Free Planets Alliance, and began the Alliance–Imperial War. Under the command of Admiral Lin Pao, the Alliance defeated the Imperial fleet in what would later be known as the Battle of Dagon. This victory triggered a flood of refugees from the Galactic Empire to the Alliance. As a result the population size, the demography, and society experienced a tremendous change.
Economy
Aside from being the Alliance capital Heinessen was also a centre of Alliance economy.
Government
Republican democracy is the main political system.

Defence
Heinessen was defended by the Artemis Necklace, a system of 12 satellites. The system was purchased from the Dominion of Fezzan and was destroyed by Yang Wen-li by ramming each with motorized dry ice asteroids at near light speed in 797 UC (488 IC / 3597 CE). (LOGH: 'Victory for Whose Sake?')
As a second line of defence, there were ground to orbit missile emplacements. These were destroyed in 800 UC (2 NIC / 491 IC / 3600 CE) by orbital bombardment.
