Imperial Police

The Imperial Police was the civilian law enforcement body of the Galactic Empire, as opposed to the Imperial Military Police, which had jurisdiction over cases in which military personnel were involved.

Role
As a civilian police force, it was presumably responsible for enforcing Imperial law in cities, stations, and other population centers. However, by the time of the late Goldenbaum Dynasty, the Military Police frequently got involved in civilian matters and there was some tension between the two organizations. The Imperial Police was led by a commissioner and functioned as an agency of the Ministry of the Interior. (DIS: 'Chapter I', HBSHBL: 'The Night of the Party')
History
In 795 UC (486 IC / 3595 CE), Imperial police officers on the artificial resort satellite Kreuznach III, under Superintendent Hoffmann, investigated a drug trafficking network led by retired Vice Admiral Christoph von Basel. Receiving assistance from Siegfried Kircheis, they were able to get the evidence necessary to arrest Basel for his crimes. (DIS: 'Chapter I', 'Chapter IV')
Count Erich von Hartenburg served as the deputy commissioner of the police during the late Goldenbaum Dynasty. (HBSHBL: 'The Night of the Party')
Uniform and equipment
Police officers wore a blue uniform that was somewhat similar to the black standard Imperial military uniform, which included a blue tunic and pants. They also wore blue peaked caps with a plaque on the chest. For combat situations, policemen were equipped with laser pistols. (DIS: 'Chapter I', 'Chapter III')
