The Alliance tank (Japanese: 同盟軍装甲車) referred to a tank design that was deployed in the arsenal of Alliance bases on Van-Fleet 4-2 and Kapche-Lanka.

Design

The tank had 8 road wheels per side.

The main armament consisted of a forward-mounted turret, equipped with a rail cannon. Secondary armament consisted of a single-barrel general purpose electron beam cannon mounted in a smaller ball turret in the front hull. Three 10-round box-launchers were also fitted - two on the left and right-hand side of the hull, and one on the rear.

Control of the tank was dependent on direct input from a driver-helmet, which connected with the vehicle's artificial intelligence. In this way, the vehicle would only respond to the commands of a driver whose brainwaves were specified and registered in the system. This set it apart from the equivalent Imperial Panzer IV tank, which could be controlled manually. Viewscreens to the front and sides of the crew offered a wide field of view of the vehicle's surrounds.

All systems were powered by a hydrogen battery. This battery, whilst not directly interchangeable with that of the Imperial Panzer IV tank, was broadly equivalent, and a cable could be run from one vehicle to the other to effect a recharge of a depleted battery. (SWV: 'Chapter III')

Ingress and egress was accomplished via a hatch to the rear of the turret. A total of six seats were located within the tank's hull.

For remote reconnaissance, the vehicle could deploy a land gopher - an unmanned ground vehicle which would remotely search the surrounding area and feed back data and video to the vehicle crew. (HBSHBL: 'Those Who Defected')
