Keyserling Fleet

The Keyserling Fleet was an Imperial Navy formation under the command of Vice Admiral Michael von Keyserling. The fleet's supply officer was Rear Admiral Christoph von Basel.
History
The Keyserling Fleet was most notable for taking part in the Battle of Arlesheim, in 792 UC (483 IC / 3592 CE). Imperial forces prepared to ambush an Alliance fleet moving through the Arlesheim Stazrone by hiding their ships behind asteroids. However, the fact that some of the soldiers were on the drug thyoxin caused the crews to attack prematurely, giving away their position. The Alliance then responded and gave the Keyserling Fleet heavy casualties, forcing them to retreat. (DIS: 'Chapter I', 'Chapter III')
Vice Admiral Keyserling was held responsible for the defeat and was court-martialed after the battle. The supply chief Rear Admiral Basel had actually distributed the thyoxin drugs to the crew, running a drug trafficking operation, and although the Imperial Military Police tried to investigate him, the case was closed due to lack of evidence. It would not be until a few years later that Basel's complicity would become known. (DIS: 'Chapter III')
