Service history

The Bang-goo led its fleet in the Alliance dispatch against an Imperial expedition in February 795 UC (486 IC / 3595 CE) along with the 5th Fleet and 11th Fleet, which culminated in the Third Battle of Tiamat. It also participated in the Alliance invasion of Imperial territory in 796 UC (487 IC / 3596 CE). When the Imperial counter-attack began, the 10th Fleet was attacked and eventually encircled by the Black Lancers at planet Lügen. After taking significant casualties, Vice Admiral Ulanhu managed to achieve a breakthrough and save the remnants of his fleet, holding the Bang-goo back as long as possible to ensure as many damaged ships got away first. Ordering his fleet to launch all remaining missiles, the Bang-goo's missile launcher deployed and began to fire. However, enemy cannon fire struck the missile launcher within seconds, causing a catastrophic explosion. The Bang-goo broke up and exploded soon after, taking Ulanhu with it. Background information

The name Bang-goo is a mistranslation of Pangu (aka Pan Gu), the name of the creator in Chinese mythology.

The Bang-goo was designed for a balance between offence and defence. Some features of its hull design were incorporated into the later constructed Maurya. On its underside was a large hangar for small craft, specifically ship launches. These large shuttles enabled large quantities of materiel to be shipped to and from orbit. For this reason, the Bang-goo was included in the first vanguard formation of the Alliance offensive into the Empire.

In 791 UC (482 IC / 3591 CE), it had its first refit, focused on its engine section and the fitting of a new model of warp stabilisers.

During the Third Battle of Tiamat, it suffered light damage that nonetheless required 6 months of repair work. (Data Book: Mechanic & Seiyū Encyclopaedia, p. 121)

Compared to its peers, the Bang-goo had more secondary weapons for greater firepower in side and rear arcs. The reason for this lay with the aggressive tactics of Ulanhu, which could have seen the ship penetrate an enemy formation and have enemy ships on multiple sides. (Fleet File Collection Vol.12)
