Service history
Imperial invasions
The Diomedes's first battle was at the Battle of Rantemario in February 799 UC (1 NIC / 490 IC / 3599 CE). Though the 15th Fleet suffered grievous losses in that battle, the Diomedes survived and the remains of the 15th Fleet joined the Yang Fleet for the subsequent battles of the war, culminating in the Battle of Vermilion. (LOGH: 'The Two-Headed Snake: The Battle of Rantemario', 'The Darkness Before Dawn')
Second Alliance–Imperial War
As a battleship, the Diomedes was required to be scrapped under the Treaty of Ba‘alat. However, it had not yet been dismantled when hostilities resumed. Vice Admiral Carlsen commanded the vessel again at the Battle of Marr-Adetta Starzone in January 800 UC (2 NIC / 491 IC / 3600 CE), under the overall command of Fleet Admiral Alexandre Bewcock. The Diomedes led a detachment of Alliance forces that attempted to break through to the Imperial Fleet's rear in an attempt to attack the Brünhild. Carlsen's efforts ultimately failed — the Diomedes's energy and missiles ran out, and the ship was destroyed at 23:10 on 16 January 800 UC (2 NIC / 491 IC / 3600 CE). (LOGH: 'The Battle of Marr-Adetta Starzone (Part One)', 'The Battle of Marr-Adetta Starzone (Part Two)')
Design
The Diomedes was nearly identical to the 14th Fleet flagship, the Achilleus.

Background information
Diomedes is a hero of Greek mythology who fought in the Trojan War alongside heroes such as Achilles, Patroklos and Ajax.
Licensed Sources
The Diomedes was one of the Ajax class of flagships and was one of the later units constructed. Its appearance had similarities with other Ajax class flagships such as the Achilleus and Rio Grande. This was due to a large inflow of technology and knowledge from the Dominion of Fezzan during that time period. (Fleet File Collection Vol.4)

DVD features
A production sketch of the Diomedes appears in the extra features of the DVD box set. Note that there is a continuity error with the pennant number showing 1401, the number for Achilleus, yet the sketch is clearly labeled as Diomedes
