Edwin Fischer (Japanese: エドウィン・フィッシャー) was an Alliance officer who served in the 13th Fleet under the command of Admiral Yang Wen-li.
Prior to his joining the 13th Fleet, Fischer served in the 4th Fleet under Vice Admiral Pastolle. He was one of the few members of the 4th Fleet who survived the Battle of Astarte. (Overture to a New War)
He was with the fleet from the very beginning, participating in the capture of Iserlohn Fortress in the Seventh Battle of Iserlohn. Recognized by Yang as an admirable officer from the outset, he was put in charge of fleet movements. Fischer, in turn, trusted Yang completely, even when other officers objected to the risky elements of the infiltration of Iserlohn. At the time of the operation, Edwin held the rank of Commodore, but was already the de facto vice-commander of the fleet.
He was renowned for his ability to execute fleet manoeuvres perfectly, which proved to be a great asset for Yang, who rely on him heavily in bringing his legendary battlefield tactics into fruition. The excellence of Yang's fleet movements was instrumental in several battles. One such was the Battle of Doria, where Fischer's masterful fleet movements, precisely following Yang's plan, caused the renegade 11th Fleet to be overwhelmed easily. However, perhaps because of his role in organising fleet formations, he was rarely seen commanding independent squadrons unlike other flag officers under Yang such as Dusty Attemborough, despite his position as Vice-Commander of the fleet.
He was killed in action in May 800 UC (2 NIC / 491 IC / 3600 CE), during the Battle of the Corridor.
