Baunsgoal (Japanese: バウンスゴール) was an Alliance vice admiral of the engineering corps. He was in command of the Alliance shipyard on Lusiana by the time of the Second Alliance–Imperial War. When it came under attack by the New Galactic Empire in 799 UC (1 NIC / 490 IC / 3599 CE), he stayed behind to coordinate the defense and buy time for the remaining ships to escape. Vice Admiral Baunsgoal was killed when the facility was finally destroyed. (LOGH: 'To El Facil')

Background information
Baunsgoal is a mistranslation of Baunsgaard, a surname of Danish origin. The DVD's mistranslation likely stems from the non-phonetic — by Japanese (and English) standards — pronunciation of the original name; in Danish it is roughly similar to BOWNS-goar.
