He participated in and acted as spokesperson for the National Salvation Military Council's coup d'état against the Alliance government. Following the Council's realisation that the coup had been instigated by Reinhard von Lohengramm to distract the Alliance government, and the subsequent death of Dwight Greenhill, Ebense announced the Council's surrender to Yang Wen-li.
