Friedrich III (Japanese: フリードリヒ3世) was the 20th kaiser of the Goldenbaum Dynasty. It was during his reign, in 640 UC (331 IC / 3440 CE), that first contact occurred between the Galactic Empire and the Free Planets Alliance. (LOGH: 'Julian's Journey, Mankind's Journey')
The Imperial defeat at the Battle of Dagon shattered the myth of Imperial invincibility and led to Friedrich III being known as "The Defeated". (Encyclopaedia Die Legende der Sternhelden)

Friedrich III was the nephew of the previous Kaiser, Leonhard II, and was adopted as a son at the urging of the Kaiserin, Christine. Soon after Leonahrd II died, in suspicious circumstances, and Friedrich III was crowned. Rumors of sexual liaisons between Christine and Friedrich III persisted.
