Katharin Kätchen (Japanese: カザリン・ケートヘン1世) was the 38th and final monarch of the Goldenbaum Dynasty, and the Galactic Empire's first Kaiserin. As a great-granddaughter of Otfried V through his 3rd daughter, she was given the position by Prime Minister Reinhard von Lohengramm following the abduction of the 37th Kaiser, the seven-year-old Kaiser Erwin Josef II, on 20 September 798 UC (489 IC / 3598 CE).

At the time of her ascension to the throne, Katharin Kätchen was only 8 months old. She was to hold the crown for the final days of the first Alliance–Imperial War, which saw Reinhard claiming a decisive victory over the Alliance, and the signing of the Treaty of Ba‘alat in his favour. Only a month after on 20 June 799 UC (1 NIC / 490 IC / 3599 CE), her regent, Duke Jürgen Offer von Pegnitz, signed the abdication on her behalf, and was succeeded by Reinhard, putting an end to nearly five centuries of Goldenbaum rule in the Galactic Empire. Her regent was also her father. Upon her taking on the position of Kaiserin, her father was elevated three ranks from viscount to duke. The 30 year old duke had no interest in politics or the military and indulged his passion and fortune in amassing ivory works of art. The documents of abdication he signed also guaranteed the Pegnitz family's new noble rank and also granted Katharin a lifelong annuity of 1.5 million Imperial Marks.
