Service history
The Wilhelmina acted as the supreme flagship of Fleet Admiral Mückenberger from at least 794 UC (485 IC / 3594 CE) up to his retirement in late 796 UC (487 IC / 3596 CE). It was first observed at the Battle of Van-Fleet Starzone in 794 UC (485 IC / 3594 CE), and also fought at the Third Battle of Tiamat that same year. In 795 UC (486 IC / 3595 CE), it again commanded the Imperial fleet at the Fourth Battle of Tiamat. (HBSHBL: 'The Battle of Van-Fleet Starzone', TBT: 'Part One', My Conquest Is the Sea of Stars)
Fleet Admiral Mückenberger retired in late 796 UC (487 IC / 3596 CE). The Wilhelmina fell into the hands of the Lippstadt Alliance, and became the flagship of Baron (and Vice Admiral) Flegel. Flegel first took the Wilhelmina into battle against the Mittermeyer Fleet outside Geiersberg Fortress in 797 UC (488 IC / 3597 CE). Mittermeyer's feigned retreat led the Wilhelmina and the rest of the Lippstadt forces out of the fortress shortly thereafter. In the ensuing battle, the Wilhelmina was damaged by fire from the Mittermeyer Fleet, enraging Flegel and causing him to recklessly press his attack. (LOGH: 'Courage and Loyalty')
Though the Wilhelmina survived the decisive defeat that followed, it went into battle a final time shortly after, in an attempt to kill Reinhard von Lohengramm with the Lippstadt Alliance's few remaining ships. They were again soundly defeated. Flegel attempted to goad Marquis Lohengramm or one of his subordinates into single ship-to-ship combat, seeking a glorious death. His crew followed the lead of Captain Leopold Schumacher and mutinined, killing Flegel. The Wilhelmina's ultimate fate is unknown - it was possibly used by its crew to reach Fezzan. (LOGH: 'The Fall of Goldenbaum')
Design
Though at first glance the Wilhelmina resembles a standard battleship, it is much larger, and is most readily distinguishable by the twenty guns on the prow in comparison to the standard battleship's eight, as well as its four engines (in comparison to a standard battleship's three). The Wilhelmina is identical to the Berlin and Ostmark in design. However unlike them, it is not accompanised by shield ships.
