Military service

By the Fourth Battle of Tiamat, in 795 UC (486 IC / 3595 CE), Mecklinger held the rank of commodore, serving as Admiral Reinhard von Musel's chief of staff during the battle. (My Conquest Is the Sea of Stars)

During the attempted Free Planets Alliance invasion of the Empire in 796 UC (487 IC / 3596 CE), Mecklinger's fleet took part in battle against Vice Admiral Appleton and the 8th Fleet at the Battle of Wansteidt. It was an Imperial victory, where Mecklinger inflicted 30% casualties on the Alliance and forced the 8th Fleet to retreat. He later took part in the Battle of Amritsar, which saw the defeat and retreat of the remaining Alliance forces in Imperial territory. (LOGH: 'The Battle of Amritsar Starzone')

Under the command of Fleet Admiral Reinhard von Lohengramm, he later took part in the Imperial Civil War of 797 UC (488 IC / 3597 CE), in the final battle out side of Geiersburg Fortress. (LOGH: 'The Lippstadt Conspiracy', 'Courage and Loyalty')

Personal life

Mecklinger is known for his fondness of the arts and history and was a noted scholar. He later wrote a series of essays evaluating the various Admirals and Commanders of his time. Among other things he concluded that Reinhard was the overall best commander and Yang Wenli being more of a strategist than a fighter. He also criticized Bittenfeld's actions during a fire at Reinhard's temporary residence, in which Bittenfeld rescued Reinhard but did not rescue countless historically valuable works of art. (LOGH: 'Lost Things')

It was also noted that Mecklinger was the one who most enjoyed Reinhard's attempts to embrace the preforming arts and other such things outside of war.
