Abendroth (Japanese: アーベントロート) was an Imperial flag officer who served in military intelligence.

History
In late 792 UC (483 IC / 3592 CE), Abendroth's department, Operations Division Three of Imperial High Command HQ, was tasked with apprehending Count Herxheimer, who had stolen a directional Seffle particle generator prototype and had fled to Fezzan with the intention to defect to the Free Planets Alliance. He was recommended to let the then Commander Reinhard von Müsel undertake the secret mission with only the cruiser under his command, and personally travelled to Iserlohn Fortress to convey the order. After Reinhard accepted the secret mission, Abendroth assigned his subordinate Lt Commander Bendling to oversee the mission. Although Reinhard succeeded in recovering the prototype, Herxheimer was caught in an accident while trying to escape and died as a result. In addition, the computer within the prototype revealed damning evidence about how Marquis Wilhelm von Littenheim tried to silence Herxheimer and his family after the count discovered that the marquis' daughter Sabine von Littenheim had inherited a genetic condition from her mother Princess Christine which would disqualify her from the line of succession if exposed. Reinhard used this knowledge to pressure Abendroth to grant both he and Siegfried Kircheis promotions, and the latter reluctantly agreed. (RET: 'Chapter I', 'Chapter IV')
