Zieten (Japanese: ツィーテン) was the Galactic Empire's Space Fleet Chief Commander during the Second Battle of Tiamat, in 745 UC (436 IC / 3545 CE). He presided over the battle from his flagship, the Audhumla. During the battle, he mobilised seven fleets, totalling 56,000 ships and 6,500,000 sailors. Preceding the outbreak of battle, Zieten assigned Vice Admiral Wilhelm von Mückenberger command of a fleet (with especially high morale) partially in response to the recent death of Wilhelm's uncle, the Minister of Military Affairs, Fleet Admiral Keltring.

Despite his forces' high morale and greater numbers, he was unable to secure victory, and the battle was a disastrous defeat for the Empire, with 60 admirals lost in the final 40 minutes of heavy fighting alone. Zieten's own fate is unknown. It is possible he died in battle as the final organised Imperial resistance was led by Vice Admiral Hauser von Steiermark. If he survived, it is also possible that he may have been forced to take responsibility for the disaster through resignation or suicide.
