Service history

Alliance–Imperial War

The Königs Tiger's combat debut was in Reinhard von Lohengramm's campaign to defeat the Free Planets Alliance's invasion of Imperial space in 796 UC (487 IC / 3596 CE). The Black Lancers attacked and defeated the 10th Fleet at planet Lügen. At the subsequent Battle of Amritsar Starzone, the Königs Tiger led a flanking attack that eliminated the 8th Fleet. (LOGH: 'The Battle of Amritsar Starzone').

Imperial Civil War

The Königs Tiger served with Lohengramm's main fleet against the Lippstadt League in the Imperial Civil War in 797 UC (488 IC / 3597 CE), including the battles outside Rentenberg Fortress and Geiersburg Fortress. Following the victory, Vice Admiral Bittenfeld took the Königs Tiger flagship back to Odin to effect the seizer of power on Lohengramm's behalf. (LOGH: 'Bloodshed in Space', 'Courage and Loyalty', 'Farewell, Distant Memories')

Invasion of the Alliance

Following the Imperial conquest of Fezzan, the Königs Tiger fought at the Battle of Rantemario, with the Black Lancers charging through an energy current in the final stages of the battle, the Königs Tiger at their head, smashing the Alliance fleet under Fleet Admiral Bewcock. (LOGH: 'The Two-Headed Snake: The Battle of Rantemario')

Second Alliance-Imperial War

First into Alliance territory upon the resumption of hostilities, the Königs Tiger took the Black Lancers and eliminated several token attempts at resistance to the Imperial invasion on the way to Heinessen. On the commencement of the Battle of Mar-Adetta Starzone in January 800 UC (2 NIC / 491 IC / 3600 CE), High Admiral Bittenfeld rushed to join the other Imperial fleets, arriving near the end of the battle and charging forward with the flagship to finish off the enemy. (LOGH: 'The Plan to Retake Iserlohn', 'The Battle of Marr-Adetta Starzone (Part Two)')

During the Battle of the Corridor, the Königs Tiger's most notable action was as the core of a small unit which charged the El Facil Revolutionary Reserve Force late in the Battle of the Corridor. With high morale and enhanced command and control due to the small size of his force, the attack caused grave harm to Yang Wen-li's ability to resist, by destroying the flagship Shiva and killing Vice Admiral Edwin Fischer. (LOGH: 'The Battle of the Corridor: End of the Campaign')

Reuenthal's Rebellion & The Battle of Shiva

The Königs Tiger arrived at the head of the Black Lancers to reinforce the Mittermeyer Fleet in the early stages of the Second Battle of Rantemario in late 800 UC (2 NIC / 491 IC / 3600 CE). With the Black Lancers breaking under Fleet Admiral Reuenthal's attacks, Bittenfeld threatened that retreating ships would be destroyed by the guns of the Königs Tiger, which had the effect of turning the tide of the engagement. (LOGH: 'Live by the Sword...')

The Königs Tiger's participation in the Battle of Shiva against the fleet of the Iserlohn Republic under Julian Mintz climaxed in the flagship leading another of its signature charges against the enemy. With the assistance of the Eisenach Fleet, the attack caused a debacle amongst the enemy formation, wrecking the Hyperion and resulting in the death of High Admiral Merkatz. (LOGH: 'The Beautiful Maiden Wants Blood')

Although Bittenfeld's 'wild boar' command style would bring the elite Black Lancers into grief on more than one occasion, including The Battle of Amritsar Starzone and the Battle of the Corridor, the Königs Tiger was never damaged in any of the battles it participated in between 796 UC (487 IC / 3596 CE) and 801 UC (3 NIC / 492 IC / 3601 CE), despite Bittenfeld's penchant for leading from the extreme front of his fleet.

Design

The Königs Tiger resembles a larger and more heavily armed Fast battleship.

Background information

The name Königs Tiger is a German phrase which translates literally to King's Tiger. It is a reference either to the World War II-era Tiger II tank, which carried this nickname, or to the German term for the Bengal tiger, after which the tank was named. (It is normally written as one word — Königstiger — in German.)
